Facebook Changes - Just When You Thought You Got It

Are we shocked? No!

Does it happen all the time? Yes!

Does it impact who sees your posts in their news feeds? Yes!

So here’s the change – and what you need to do starting now to take advantage of it

What Is The Change?

Facebook announced a slight tweak to the News Feed algorithm. You know – the news feed is where all of your followers see your status updates, which hopefully intrigue them to come to your Facebook page and read more… (and go to your website, etc.)

Starting now, you will begin to see more "text-only" posts from friends in your News Feed. OK fine.

Here’s the biggie! As it impacts your business fan page..

You will also see LESS TEXT-ONLY POSTS FROM PAGES in your News Feed (because Facebook noticed text-only posts from Pages were not getting much engagement,, likes, comments, shares, etc). So STOP POSTING TEXT-ONLY STATUS UPDATES ON YOUR BUSINESS FAN PAGE, RIGHT NOW!

AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, Facebook also announced that they will start to push MORE "link-share" posts from Pages out into the News Feed of our fans.  SO, START RIGHT NOW, POSTING LINK-SHARE POSTS.

WAIT, YOU SCREAM … What's a "link-share" post? AND, HOW DO I CREATE ONE AND DO THIS?

OK.. Here I am to the rescue. Keep reading. I am going to explain in detail how to do this… Just remember, I (and AmpUrBiz) am here for you, to help you navigate through this crazy social media world.

Most of us embed our links directly into our status updates, but that's no longer effective. I strongly recommend you NO LONGER do this.  Here is the old way below:

Instead, create a LINK-SHARE post that looks like this:

Facebook-Changes-2.png

Notice how there is an image in the post as well as the title and description text below, or in this case, next to the image? That's a "link-share" post. Both the image and the title text are clickable. There is nothing else, no text anywhere else, (that I entered,) that is.

HOW TO CREATE A LINK-SHARE POST

When you add a link to a status update, the image with the title and description should automatically get pulled into the post, thus creating a "link-share" post. You can then delete the link in the status update box that you originally typed in, because the image and the description are now clickable. And that’s it! Without the typed text, there is no text-only post to share (or in this case for Facebook not to share).

EASY-PEASY, right?

And now, you know the secret before any of your competition!

Here's what Facebook actually said about the change…

"The best way to share a link after this update will be to use a link-share. We've found that, as compared to sharing links by embedding in status updates, these posts get more engagement (more likes, comments, shares and clicks) and they provide a more visual and compelling experience for people seeing them in their feeds."

This is good news for Page owners because images take up more room in the News Feed and therefore are more eye-catching and interesting than a boring text post. So this is all good news.

ONE MORE TIP!

You can continue to also create status updates where you actually upload the image yourself as well - where there is no link.. When you do that, I suggest you upload an image that is 1200 x 1200 pixels (that's huge, I know!) and Facebook will resize it for you so that your post will show up correctly (nothing will get cut off) on your timeline, in the News Feeds, both mobile and desktop, as well.

OK – so now you have what you need…. It is my job as AmpUrBiz to be here for you to help you grow your business.
